‘Ready to change’, became a very popular line from a track by Samantha Mogwe some 2 years ago when she collaborated with Zeus (BW’s finest rapper) but it was by no means a reflection of the person that she was at the time or whom she is now. Especially because Samantha is undergoing a major change, she is growing a person.
DSC_0457Becoming a mother, is for many a rite of passage, but it comes at a price as Samantha is discovering daily.

‘Your emotions are all over the place and you feel like a stranger in your own body’

…she says, while walking a treadmill on a slight incline with absolute ease. Samantha is on her second trimester and fast approaching month 6 of her pregnancy, but she is at the gym and about to start her kettle bell workout with Obi.
She has faced many criticisms about her lifestyle choices while with child, from the way she dresses (high heeled shoes and all) to going to gym (for ‘heavy lifting’). She explained herself when she said  ‘I cannot give up everything that makes me a woman’. She has learned to operate within her limitations. As far as her OB/GYN (see what we did there?) is concerned, at this point, while the pelvis is still strong, the muscles have not started stretching too far, and the baby is not sitting on her lower abs, she can do some mild lifting and basic workouts. Besides, she needs that core to push out the baby and avoid serious injuries like Diastasis Recti. In addition, safe and moderated exercise during pregnancy helps with the healthy development of the baby.

So here is month 5 pregnant Samantha’s simple  kettle bell workout with Obi
